The Minnesota Natural Resources Conservation Service

The NRCS strives to improve, protect, and conserve natural resources on private lands through a cooperative partnership with local and state agencies.

Chippewa River Watershed

The Chippewa River Watershed Project is a non-regulatory, cooperative partnership and citizen based approach focused on improving water quality and watershed life in the Chippewa River and its tributaries. The CRWP is currently funded with state Clean Water Partnership Grants, Federal 319 Grant Dollars, and local water plan contributions. The CRWP also relies heavily on the volunteerism and commitment of our partners.

Chippewa County Local Water Resources Protection and Management

The Chippewa County Local Water Management Plan is administered by the Land and Resource Management Office.  The Chippewa SWCD has adopted the Local Water Management Plan as its official Comprehensive Long Range Plan.

Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts

The MASWCD is a non-profit organization which exists to provide leadership and common voice for the Minnesota SWCD’s and to maintain a positive, results-oriented relationship with rule making agencies, partners, legislators; expanding education opportunities for the SWCD’s so they may carry out effective conservation programs.

Board of Water and Soil Resources

The Minnesota BWSR is the state’s administrative agency for 91 soil and water conservation districts, 46 watershed districts, 23 metro-watershed management organizations, and 80 county water managers.  The agency’s purpose, working through local government, is to protect and enhance the state’s soil and water resources by implementing the policy, comprehensive local water management, and the Wetland Conservation Act as it relates to the 41.7 million acres of private land in Minnesota.

National Association of Conservation Districts

The NACD is the nonprofit organization that represents America’s 3,000 conservation districts.  NACD’s mission is to serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.

Hawk Creek Watershed Project

The Hawk Creek Watershed Project’s mission statement is to improve the water quality/quantity issues in the watershed while also promoting a healthy agricultural, industrial and recreational based economy for the region.
